ROME. PRESENTATION OF HENRI VERNEUIL’S "MAYRIG" IN ITALIAN

On September 15 at the AudioVisual Central Institute of Rome the Italian version of Henri Verneuil's book "Mayrig" was presented. The event was organized by the Embassy of Armenia to Italy in collaboration with the Audiovisual Central Institute.

In his welcoming speech the Director of the Institute Massimo Pistacchio expressed his satisfaction with the effective cooperation between the Institute and the Embassy and with the organization of joint activities on history and culture of Armenia.

In her welcoming speech the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Italy H.E. Ms. Victoria Bagdassarian emphasized that the book is not only a story of the tragedy of a whole nation, but also of its renaissance, its great potential and achievements. The Genocide survivors and their descendants were able to overcome the difficulties thus becoming fully integrated into the societies of the countries they settled in and contributing to the development of those countries.

The remarks were made by the interpreter of the book, journalist Letizia Leonardi and producer Satenig Gugiughian.

During the event episodes from the "Mayrig" movie were displayed which were followed by extracts read from the book.

Italian public and cultural figures, representatives of the Armenian community and Media were present at the event.
