18 may, 2025

On September 19, in New York, within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Antonio Tajani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia briefed his Italian counterpart on the situation resulting from another large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh in the morning of September 19, emphasizing that Azerbaijan continues its aggressive policy aimed at ethnic cleansing. Ararat Mirzoyan noted that targeting of civilian population and infrastructure by the Azerbaijani armed forces resulted in casualties and injuries among civilians, including women and children.

Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the need for adequate response and clear steps by the international community, particularly the European Union and its member states, in order to prevent mass atrocities in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The bilateral agenda between Armenia and Italy was also touched upon at the meeting.
